Kementerian Pertahanan Jepang kirim sekitar 600 personel JGSDF dan tiga helikopter CH-47 Chinook ke Indonesia lewat kapal JS Kunisaki untuk bantu pemadaman karhutla. Pasukan tersebut tiba Kamis (10/9/2026) dan langsung beroperasi di Kalimantan Barat dengan koordinasi bersama Mabes TNI dan BNPB.

Japan's Ministry of Defense deployed approximately 600 personnel from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) to Indonesia.
Three CH-47 Chinook helicopters were sent as part of the deployment.
Personnel and equipment were transported on tank landing ship JS Kunisaki (LST 4003).
JS Kunisaki departed from Kure Port, Japan on Saturday, August 30, 2026.
JGSDF personnel are scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
Upon arrival, the personnel will proceed directly to West Kalimantan.
Chinook helicopters will be used to extinguish forest and land fires (karhutla).
The helicopters will operate under the coordination of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) headquarters and BNPB.
A Japan advance team has already been deployed to Indonesia.
BNPB Head Lieutenant General Suharyanto provided this information at the Marine Corps Headquarters in Kwitang, Central Jakarta.
Suharyanto announced the deployment schedule on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Japan's deployment includes equipment to support personnel combating peatland fires.
JGSDF operations will focus on Kalimantan.
BNPB coordinates Indonesian disaster management efforts.
