Dokter spesialis jantung menyebut cuaca panas ekstrem meningkatkan risiko serangan jantung dan stroke karena pembuluh darah melebar, dehidrasi, dan penurunan tekanan darah mengurangi aliran oksigen ke jantung serta otak. Paparan panas juga bisa memicu aritmia dan memperburuk penyakit kronis, terutama saat aktivitas fisik di luar ruangan. Polusi udara, khususnya PM2,5, memperparah risiko melalui peradangan, pembentukan trombus, dan iskemia pada sistem kardiovaskular serta pernapasan.
