President Prabowo Subianto praised Democratic Party (Demokrat) at its 25th anniversary event held at Indonesia Arena, GBK Senayan, Jakarta on Wednesday (9/9/2026).
Prabowo arrived at approximately 19:10 accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
The event was attended by AHY, 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, and Democratic Party Secretary General Herman Khaeron.
Other attendees included MPR Chair Ahmad Muzani, DPR Chair Puan Maharani, and DPD Chair Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin.
Prabowo referenced a political speech delivered by AHY the previous weekend that was considered critical of the government.
Prabowo described AHY's speech as orderly, systematic, firm, and sincere.
Prabowo stated that a great nation that has chosen democracy must be grateful for criticism and correction.
Prabowo praised Demokrat as a democratic role model for delivering constructive correction without insults or anarchic actions.
Prabowo noted Demokrat remained respectful both while in power and while out of power.
The 25th anniversary theme was 'Memajukan Ekonomi, Menegakkan Keadilan, dan Menjaga Demokrasi'.
Prabowo appreciated Demokrat's consistency and loyalty in supporting him during both the 2019 and 2024 presidential elections.
SBY was also noted for campaigning alongside Prabowo during those elections.
AHY serves as Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development.
AHY clarified his weekend political speech, stating Demokrat's position is clear in wanting the Prabowo government to succeed.
AHY characterized his earlier speech as reflection, contemplation, and motivation for party cadres.
