Menteri Koordinator Bidang Hukum, HAM, Imigrasi dan Pemasyarakatan Yusril Ihza Mahendra menyatakan pemerintah masih memverifikasi informasi mengenai delapan WNI yang diduga bergabung dengan angkatan bersenjata Rusia. Yusril menilai informasi dari Ukraina bersifat sepihak dan belum bisa dipercaya 100 persen karena Ukraina sedang terlibat perang dengan Rusia. Pemerintah terus berkomunikasi dengan Kementerian Luar Negeri serta Kementerian Imigrasi dan Pemasyarakatan untuk memastikan kebenarannya.
