WALHI: 15 TPA Kebakaran, Walhi Desak Open Dumping Dihentikan

WALHI mencatat sedikitnya 15 TPA mengalami kebakaran sepanjang 2026 akibat masih dominannya praktik open dumping di 312 TPA atau 60,7 persen fasilitas persampahan Indonesia. Simulasi emisi gas metana dengan metode First Order Decay IPCC 2006 memperkirakan emisi metana bersih nasional mencapai 334.109 ton atau setara 9,02 juta ton CO2e pada 2025, berpotensi naik dua kali lipat dalam 25 tahun ke depan. WALHI mendesak Presiden dan KLH/BPLH melakukan pembenahan menyeluruh melalui pemilahan sampah dari sumber, pengomposan, budidaya maggot, serta percepatan perubahan sistem dari open dumping ke controlled landfill dan sanitary landfill.
